a nice guide: jackson hole
where to eat, drink, hike, and slow down completely
okay, jackson hole !!!!!! I don't even know where to start. I've been so many times now and somehow it gets better every trip. summer jackson hole specifically is something else: the wildflowers, the hikes, the dinners that go way too late, the way the light hits the Tetons at golden hour. I come back every time feeling like I actually lived somewhere instead of just visited it. this guide is everything i know and love about this place, let’s get into it!
stays
a note: we stay at shane’s place (lucky, i know), so these are the spots i’d tell my friends to book. aka my most vetted recs!
Hotel Yellowstone - the area’s only adults only property with unreal Teton views, 36 suites with American West inspired decor, an indoor outdoor pool, a spa, and Olivia’s restaurant inside a stunning A-frame glass building
★ The Cloudveil, Autograph Collection - right on Town Square with fireplaces, a rooftop terrace with panoramic Teton views, a pool, and an on-site bistro. the boutique sweet spot
Hotel Jackson - intimate and elegant with warm service and an on-site restaurant and bar
Fireside Resort (Wilson) - 23 LEED-certified cabins with fireplaces, private decks, fire pits, and Grand Teton views. the “glamping meets boutique hotel” spot!
Rustic Inn Creekside Resort & Spa - 12 acres on Flat Creek with individual log cabins, a full service spa, fire pits, and a breakfast buffet <3
Inn on the Creek - a sweet little B&B three blocks from Town Square with individually decorated rooms, robes, and fresh baked cookies every afternoon
Caldera House - only eight suites at the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort tram, each with a full kitchen, private terrace, fireplace, and Teton views, plus a spa, and sauna!
coffee + morning bites
★ Persephone Bakery - the anchor of any jackson hole morning. artisan coffee, flaky pastries (great gf options), artisanal breads, and a patio that’s perfect when the sun is out. get there + linger (a location also in Wilson!)
Picnic Coffee - Persephone’s sister café, slightly removed from the chaos of downtown, more modern, equally charming. great for a quieter morning or a working session
Cowboy Coffee Co. - a jackson staple since 1989, steps from Town Square with house roasted beans, a full breakfast menu, and a signature Jackson Hole Mocha
★ Snake River Roasting Company - the female led roastery doing award winning coffee with a modern, bright aesthetic and an upstairs loft. I love their seasonal lattes
Pearl Street Bagels - a 35 year jackson institution doing authentic boiled and baked bagels daily, with homemade cream cheeses (get the mountain berry huckleberry), great espresso drinks, and a quick line
Nora's Fish Creek Inn - a James Beard Award winning breakfast spot in wilson, famous for the huevos rancheros, gluten free banana bread French toast (!!!!), and trout and eggs. go get the french toast
other bites
★ Glorietta Trattoria - italian done properly in a cozy trattoria setting with a wood burning grill. the cocktail menu is also excellent. one of the most beloved spots in jackson for good reason. went last week and loved so much!
Gather - “creative american”, great burgers, great cocktails, and an amazing happy hour. the views of Snow King from the patio are 10/10
Kampai - a san francisco chef (from Akiko’s and Pabu) brought elevated japanese and sushi to wyoming and it delivers! modern mountain aesthetic, refined execution, and top tier service. reservations recommended
The Bird - jackson hole institution for fried chicken and creative cocktails. laid back, fun, unpretentious
Bin22 - a wine shop and bar hybrid that’s one of the best surprises in town. communal tables, an innovative cocktail menu, locally sourced everything, and the Huckleberry Smash is not to be skipped
drinks
★ The Rose - partnered with Death + Company (the legendary NYC bar), this speakeasy adjacent cocktail lounge at the Pink Garter Theatre is doing big city craft cocktails in a plush, vintage mountain setting. go here first, then everywhere else
Silver Dollar Bar at The Wort Hotel - the bar is literally embedded with over 2,000 silver dollars from 1921. it’s iconic, it’s historic, and the drinks are genuinely good. the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re in a movie.
Gather - double dipping here because their cocktail program really is that good. wyoming old fashioned, Teton Mule, Caliente Wey (jalapeño infused tequila and lime). worth a stop.
Million Dollar Cowboy Bar - yes it’s touristy, yes you have to go, yes the saddle bar stools are real
★ Basecamp (Wilson) - a grocery, liquor store, and grab and go spot in Wilson that's part of the town’s fabric, known for breakfast burritos, frozen sloshies (get the frozen spicy margarita), craft beer, and being the kind of place you stop at after every hike
Stagecoach Bar - a wilson institution since 1942 at the base of Teton Pass, beloved for live music, pool tables, disco nights on thursdays, and a house band on sundays
activities
★ Jenny Lake Loop + Inspiration Point - classic for a reason. the loop around Jenny Lake is stunning and if you have energy, push up to Inspiration Point for views of the Tetons that will rearrange something in your brain. (this is the one i’d do if i only had time for one hike)
Cache Creek Trail - a quick escape from downtown, just minutes from Town Square, winding through aspen groves and pine forests alongside a clear mountain stream. easy to moderate, beginner friendly, and pretty
★ Phelps Lake Trail - a bit more of an adventure - great for wildlife spotting
Snake River Float Trip - if you want to experience jackson hole from a totally different angle, a float trip on the Snake River is it. calm, scenic, and a completely different pace from the hiking crowds
Grand Teton Scenic Drive (Moose Wilson Road) - even if you don’t hike, drive through. 7.1 miles of pure Teton landscape, wildlife around every bend, and gorgeous views
National Elk Refuge - just north of town with great wildlife viewing in summer and horse drawn sleigh rides directly into the elk herd in winter
★ Mormon Row + Schwabacher’s Landing - a historic homestead district inside Grand Teton National Park with the most photographed barns in america, Teton peaks rising directly behind them. we just went at sunrise and it was perfect

shopping
★ Lela Rose - the NYC designer’s jackson outpost, bringing her signature feminine, elevated aesthetic to the west. gorgeous shop
★ Perennial West - western inspired home goods and lifestyle finds done with a modern, thoughtful edit. the kind of shop you walk into for one thing and leave with five. one of my favorites in the whole town
Hungry Jack's General Store - a true wilson general store that's been around for over 60 years, with fresh produce, local goods, and souvenirs
MADE - handmade jewelry, ceramics, and leather goods by local artisans in Gaslight Alley
★ Womenfolk - jackson’s best vintage spot. bison head on the wall and racks full of finds
